Dead by Daylight’s 10.3.0 Public Test Build (PTB, the trial version of an update players can try before it goes live) is here, and it’s headlined by a new Killer, The Terrifier, plus Survivor Sienna Shaw and a new map, Hartshorne Mall. Behaviour Interactive is also adding gore settings, reworking how Moris work and taking another pass at perks from the last patch.

The Terrifier

The Terrifier’s power is the Bag of Toys. Hold the Ability button to open it and pick one of two random Toys, then the bag goes on cooldown. Each Toy is single-use, damages healthy Survivors and applies a Torture effect to injured ones.

  • Acid Bottle: throw it at Survivors or make Acid Puddles.
  • Flail: a sweeping attack that can hit over certain obstacles.
  • Handgun: fires a bullet.
  • Flamethrower: a stream of fire that can set Pallets, Windows and Generators alight.
  • Bike Horn: reveals Survivors with Killer Instinct, applies Oblivious and resets active Torture timers.

The core loop: torture an injured Survivor with one Toy, then hit them with a different Toy to down them and make them Terrified. Every time a Toy applies Torture, it earns a point of Deadliness, and at maximum it can down injured Survivors outright. A maxed Bike Horn interrupts Survivors repairing or healing and instantly regresses their progress. You can also Taunt a hooked or downed Terrified Survivor to give all Toys a point of Deadliness.

The Terrifier’s perks:

  • Laughingstock: Survivors within 12m of a completed Generator become Exhausted and Oblivious, and you see completed Generator Auras.
  • Kill Spree: once every remaining Survivor has 2 Hook States and all Generators are done, you can kill Survivors, and Exit Gate Switches are blocked while you do.
  • Funny Business: damaging a Generator grants 10% Haste for 10s plus a random effect, from extra Haste to stunning yourself to, well, confetti that does nothing.

Sienna Shaw and Hartshorne Mall

Sienna Shaw brings three Survivor perks:

  • Valkyrie’s Rage: after a long enough chase, your next pallet stun lasts 75% longer.
  • Shared Trauma: taking a protection hit helps nearby Survivors recover from Exhausted while running, and shows you Exhausted Survivors’ Auras within 32m.
  • Best Gift Ever: spend Tokens to sacrifice dropped Items for bonuses based on type, like a blinding Flashlight stun or seeing the 3 Generators closest to each other with a Toolbox.

Hartshorne Mall opens a new realm, The Subdivisions, and it’s tied to a creepy chunk of Dwight’s childhood lore.

New features

  • Gore customisation: under Gameplay in Settings, you can tone down Death Sequences and switch blood to a neutral green. Regional Streamer Mode does both and anonymises all player information.
  • Mori system update: Moris now fall into Finisher, Power, and Memento Mori offering/Perk categories, with only one “Kill” prompt at a time, all mapped to the Attack input. It starts with The Terrifier and will reach older Killers over time.
  • The redeem code popup now stops button-spamming on expired codes, and the tally screen’s player list widgets have been improved.

Perk changes

Behaviour says it was conservative with some 10.2.0 numbers and felt they could go further.

  • Dark Sense now uses Tokens (earned at trial start and per completed Generator, up to 5), so you get more chances to trigger it.
  • Calm Spirit speeds up Totems and Chests by 23/24/25% (was 8/9/10%).
  • Slippery Meat trades unhook speed (now 65/70/75%) for more Haste after being unhooked (7%, was 5%).
  • Dark Arrogance gets a bigger successful-attack cooldown reduction but a smaller vault bonus, and missed attacks now count as a penalty.
  • Ravenous Exposed drops to 60/65/70s.
  • Whispers Haste rises to 7% (was 5%).

Fixes and known issues

  • Survivor Bots no longer try to cleanse Totems someone’s already using.
  • The Nurse can blink through walls underground in Temple of Purgation again.
  • Killers can no longer block hooks in Raccoon City Police Station.
  • Lay Waste, Merciless Storm, Hex: The Third Seal and Chemical Trap issues are sorted.
  • A frequent Bloodweb Error when opening the Loadout tab is fixed.

Known issues include Best Gift Ever’s Flashlight bonus blinding the Deathslinger when his chain breaks, some red blood showing with Natural Blood Color off, and ongoing polish on The Terrifier’s Mori animations.
