Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 launches November 6 with new maps, DMZ's X01 and Warzone additions
Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 goes live November 6, bringing new Multiplayer maps, the X01 facility in DMZ, two Warzone maps and a Battle Pass catch-up system.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 goes live on November 6, according to the PlayStation Blog. It brings new maps and modes to Multiplayer, a new weapons facility to explore in DMZ, two fresh Warzone maps and a reworked Battle Pass.
Multiplayer maps and modes
Three new maps are ready from day one:
- Backstab: a war-torn spot with bad weather, abandoned tanks and drone ordnance stacked on the shelves of a deserted house.
- Canyon: towering rock walls, with a choice between the River route near the Convoy Ambush or the winding Cliff Path.
- Shoot House: a reimagined take set against the rugged terrain of North Korea, in the snow.
Two modes join them at launch. Grind is back, so you’ll be eliminating players, grabbing their dog tags and running them to the Bank to score. Drop Zone also returns, with teams fighting over a single rotating objective while Killstreak packages periodically airdrop onto it.
The mid-season update adds more. Ministry has you fighting in and around an embassy during a diplomatic summit, while Overflow centres on a factory and the farmland around it. There’s also a new mode, Counter Attack, where you’re trying to blow up the enemy’s Comm Station while defending your own.
DMZ heads into X01
DMZ’s big addition is X01, a previously undiscovered weapons facility that enemy forces have seized. Expect a maze of tunnels and shifting hazards that reward careful planning, specialised gear and good squad coordination.
The catch: the facility starts closing off extraction points, so you’ll need to complete the required steps to escape. Sony also lists several pages of new DMZ Orders, Threat Briefings for taking down the mode’s biggest Boss threats, and Resupply Runs.
Warzone gets two new maps
Call of Duty: Warzone picks up two maps with the Season 1 update, Hajin and Zodiac, alongside extra modes and gameplay features. A full Warzone Season 1 roadmap is promised soon.
New weapons and the Battle Pass
Two new guns are in the Season 1 Battle Pass:
- Cronen Osprey Assault Rifle: balances speed with moderate power for a quick, reliable frontline option.
- CSG-35 SMG: built for fast close-range kills, with the highest fire rate in its class.
The Battle Pass holds more than 100 pieces of unlockable content on a linear 100-tier track, including Operator Skins, Weapon Blueprints and Finishing Moves. The handy part is the new catch-up system. If you buy the premium pass and fall behind, you’ll be automatically bumped up to the reward matching the current day of the season, up to day 50, which guarantees more than 50 rewards for buyers.
Sony says the pass is simpler to navigate, too: log in to collect your rewards, then keep playing to unlock the rest of the track.
