PUBG: Battlegrounds esports splits regions, adds India and moves to four Phases in 2027
PUBG Esports is restructuring for 2027 with new regions including India, four Phases of play, no guaranteed GPT slots and a new PUBG Esports Points system.

The PUBG Esports Team has announced a new competitive structure for PUBG: Battlegrounds in 2027, with regions being split up, India joining as a new region, and the year divided into four Phases. The goal, according to the team, is to give more teams a shot at the global stage.
New regions, including India
Two of the current regions are being broken up:
- EMEA becomes Europe, Eurasia and MENA
- Americas becomes North America and South America
- India joins as a brand-new competitive region
Every team, established or not, starts the climb in its Regional League, and results there decide who heads to the PUBG Global Series (PGS). The team says fans can expect new rivalries and contenders as a result.
Four Phases, four chances
The 2027 season is split into Phase 1 through Phase 4. Each Phase pairs a Regional League with its own PGS event, so there are four separate routes onto the global stage across the year.
The catch for top teams: qualifying in one Phase doesn’t lock you into the next. You’ve got to earn it again every time.
That also applies to Global Partner Teams. From 2027, the GPT program shifts to a partnership focused on collaborative in-game items and marketing, and existing GPT teams will no longer have guaranteed PGS slots. More on the revamped partnership is promised in a future announcement.
PUBG Esports Points replace the old system
Until now, PGC Points came from Regional League results and PGS Points came from PGS results. In 2027 both are replaced by a single PUBG Esports Points system, awarded only for performance at PGS.
Those points build up across the year and count toward qualifying for the PUBG Global Championship (PGC). Details on how points are distributed and how PGC qualification works will be announced separately.
The 2027 schedule
The season kicks off with the Regional Leagues. Here’s the planned calendar, which the team notes is subject to change:
- Phase 1: Late March – Early May
- Phase 2: Mid May – Mid June
- 2027 PUBG Nations Cup: Early July
- Phase 3: Early August – Mid September
- Phase 4: Late September – Early November
- 2027 PGC: Late November – Early December
The team also teased a new look for PUBG Esports alongside the structural changes. Each Regional League’s schedule and format, plus more tournament information, will be shared in later updates.
