Assassin's Creed Valhalla update adds New Game+ and upgraded PSSR on PS5 Pro
Assassin's Creed Valhalla's free Most Requested Update is live on PS5 and PS5 Pro, adding New Game+ and upgraded PSSR support for PS5 Pro players.
Ubisoft has released Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: The Most Requested Update, a free update that is live on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro, according to the PlayStation Blog. It’s built around features players have been asking for, with New Game+ leading the list.
What’s in the update
The blog lists these additions:
- New Game+
- 2 new achievements
- An Enhanced Progression Mode option
- A new Power calculation
- A Master Assassin Naoe outfit
- Upgraded PSSR optimisations
- An Animus Hub synchronisation update
Upgraded PSSR on PS5 Pro
The PSSR changes are exclusive to PS5 Pro.
Priscilla Nguyen, Engineering Studio Manager at Ubisoft, says the upgraded version is an enhanced version of, and slightly more efficient than, the game’s current Temporal Upscaler. She describes it as much crisper and more visually stable.
Ubisoft says the result is a sharper image in 4K, with Quality mode running at 60FPS on PS5 Pro.
No big overhaul needed
Nguyen says the team didn’t have to rework the game’s content or visual assets. Instead, the upgraded PSSR was added within the existing engine and rendering pipeline.
She also says the same upgraded PSSR is already in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced and Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which is why Ubisoft wanted it in Valhalla too.
