Derelikt, a sci-fi horror game made to look like a late-90s PlayStation release, arrives on PS5 on 13 November 2026. The developer announced the date on the PlayStation Blog on 2 November 2026, and pre-orders are open with a 10% discount.

What it’s about

The game is set on Von Neumann Outpost, a base built onto an anomalous asteroid found in Saturn’s orbit. You play an outside contractor sent to find out what happened to Excavation Team Delta, who went missing on the derelict surface.

Things get worse from there. The halls are dark, systems are failing, and the survivors you meet don’t tell the same story. The developer says it wanted you to feel unable to trust the people around you, while also facing some seriously out-of-this-world horrors.

How it plays

Expect fast gunplay, but also resource management, exploration, dialogue and old-school puzzle solving, all meant to feed the tension. The outpost has a stock of traditional weapons, and as you progress you might find more outlandish prototypes and even alien weapons.

There’s also a cast of characters to deal with, each with their own secrets and agendas. The developer describes them as useful, dangerous, doomed, or (most of them) all three.

The PSOne look

The aim was to make it seem as if the game had been found on a CD-R in the storage unit of a defunct late-90s studio and ported to modern platforms. The developer says it features:

  • 100% hand-painted textures and vertex colour lighting
  • Deliberate affine texture warping, softened by dynamically subdividing the geometry, as high-end games of the era did
  • Retro-style full-motion CGI cutscenes
  • An option to toggle effects on or off to suit your taste

Derelikt has been in development in some form since late 2021.
