Rayman Legends Retold gets a free PS5-exclusive Astro Bot costume
Rayman Legends Retold launches December 3 on PS5 and PS5 Pro with a free, PS5-exclusive Astro Bot costume, unlocked on your first visit to the costume shop.
Rayman Legends Retold is coming to PS5 and PS5 Pro on December 3, 2026, and Sony says it will include an exclusive Astro Bot costume for Rayman. It’s a nice full-circle moment, after Rayman made a cameo in Astro Bot (2024).
How you get the costume
The outfit is free. You’ll unlock it the first time you visit Victor Velour, the game’s resident tailor, at his costume shop. It’s exclusive to PS5.
The costume is a joint effort between Ubisoft Milan, Ubisoft Montpellier and Team Asobi, the same trio behind the earlier crossover.
Fitting a robot into Rayman’s world
In an interview on the PlayStation Blog, Lead Character Artist Quentin Chaillet said the big challenge was bringing Astro Bot’s sleek, futuristic look into a universe that’s usually more handcrafted and organic. The team carried over the reflective metallic parts, glowing blue elements and smooth white surfaces.
They also had to adapt the shapes to suit Rayman’s silhouette, including his large nose, lack of arms and legs, and big shoes. The aim, Chaillet said, was to stay faithful to Astro Bot while keeping it authentically Rayman.
Art and World Director Guillaume Arvieu pointed to what the two series share: colourful, creative worlds, fluid movement and a focus on joy. He also said collaborations like this let teams celebrate each other’s work.
About the game
Rayman Legends Retold is described as a bold reimagining of the platformer, with new visuals and a retold story. You can play solo or in up to four-player couch co-op, explore a new realm and jam through new musical stages.
