METRO Redux next-gen update is out now on Xbox Series X|S with 4K at 60fps or 120fps
The free METRO Redux next-gen update is live on Xbox Series X|S, adding 4K modes, better visuals and Impulse Triggers support for both METRO 2033 and Last Light.

METRO 2033 Redux and METRO Last Light Redux have a free next-gen update on Xbox Series X|S, live now. It brings sharper performance modes, a visual refresh and controller feedback to both games, according to Xbox Wire.
Performance
Once the update is downloaded and applied, you can pick between two ways to play both games:
- True 4K resolution at 60fps
- Upscaled 4K at 120fps
4A TSR Upscaling and Antialiasing support is also included, for a sharper image.
Visuals
The update adds more detailed textures, a refined lighting and shadow system, richer environmental detail and better animation. 4A Games says each change was tuned to preserve the look and feel of the originals.
Controls and devices
- Full support for the Xbox controller’s Impulse Triggers, which add tactile feedback to the tension.
- Full support and optimisation for Xbox Ally and Ally X.
- Xbox Play Anywhere is now part of the package.
Why now
The update lands ahead of METRO 2039, which launches on February 4, 2027, so it’s a handy way for newcomers to catch up on the series. Xbox Wire says more than 50 million players have explored the METRO series since the first game launched in 2010.
The Metro Redux Bundle is listed as including both campaigns and all downloadable content.
