Where Winds Meet Hutuo anniversary update is coming to Xbox Series X|S on 13 November (PT)

NetEase Games has detailed the Hutuo anniversary update for Where Winds Meet on Xbox Series X|S. It’s due on 13 November (PT), and it drops players into a war-torn region built around the Battle of Zhongdu Bridge, the frontline defence in a sixteen-year conflict.

What’s in Hutuo

The campaign is backed by side quests that show the war from ground level: conflicted soldiers, displaced families and villagers sheltering refugees.

Three bosses are highlighted:

• Xiao Han, the climax of the Hutuo River Campaign, wears Blood-forged Super Armor. The advice is to parry hard, bait out his thrusts and break his stance before going all in.
• Bingshen, who uses rapid gap-closers and sweeping area attacks. Dodging into his follow-ups opens him up.
• Yelu Abuli, a royal and shaman who controls ceremonial fire. Staying mobile and interrupting his incantations is the way through.

Dual Spears and board games

The Dual Spears martial art arrives separately on 26 November. Yuen Woo-ping, the action director behind “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon”, led the motion capture and choreography. Using the Dual-Weapon Skill mid-combo lets you chain light thrusts into heavy downward strikes without resetting your attacks.

For a breather, Hutuo adds two board game modes:

• Horse Racing Chess: you become the game piece, rolling dice and using Mystic Skills in a race to the finish.
• Jianghu Tactics: a deeper tactical mode using the Heroic Spirit roster, where positioning, gear and character bonds decide the winner.

Xbox features and anniversary gifts

The Xbox version supports Smart Delivery, HDR and AMD FSR 2 upscaling, plus an interface with larger text. Series X upscales to 4K from 1080p, while Series S upscales to 2K from 900p.

After the update, logging in and joining anniversary events earns a free Outfit Set worth 2,580 Echo Beads, with 12 styles to choose from. The events also hand out 42 Resonating Melody draws and 27 Lingering Melody draws.

NetEase says more anniversary perks for Xbox Game Pass members are on the way.
