Switch 2

Nintendo has released Version 1.1.1 of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on Switch 2. Its update history dates the patch to 4 November, a day before the game’s 5 November launch, so it was ready for launch day.

Patch notes

Nintendo’s notes list three items under General:

  • ZELDA NOTES is now supported.
  • After updating, follow the instructions shown at the start of the game to set up ZELDA NOTES.
  • Several issues have been addressed to improve the gameplay experience. Nintendo doesn’t say which ones.

What ZELDA NOTES is

ZELDA NOTES is a game-specific service inside the free Nintendo Switch app on a smart device, and it doesn’t need a Nintendo Switch Online membership. For Ocarina of Time, Nintendo’s Australian page lists a record of your accomplishments, a way to test your knowledge of the game, and creating and sharing your own ocarina melodies, and more. Nintendo’s footnote says the app needs a Nintendo Account, a persistent internet connection and a compatible device, and that data charges may apply.

How to get the update

The update installs automatically when the console is online and Software Auto-Updates is on. To do it by hand, highlight the game on the HOME Menu without starting it, press + or –, then choose Software Update and Over the Internet. Nintendo says save data is still available afterwards, and that the update must be applied to use the game’s Internet features.
