Xbox has announced an updated Xbox PC app for Xbox Insiders, with a new look, a reworked Library and better search. Insiders could try it from 5 November 2026, according to Xbox Wire. Xbox is also taking the refreshed web experience to more players and updating its cloud gaming apps on supported TVs and VR headsets.

What’s new in the PC app

Xbox says the app now launches up to 60% faster. Home, Store and Game Pass pages load up to 50% faster, and in-app windows open up to 65% faster. Those figures come from Xbox’s own testing and may vary by device, internet connection and system setup.

  • Library: simpler navigation, updated filters and new ways to organise your games.
  • Friends: social features now sit in the main navigation, so it’s quicker to see what friends are playing, start a chat or join a party.
  • Search: one search covers games (including installed titles and add-ons) and people.
  • Look and feel: refreshed game cards, Home, Settings and animations.

Refreshed web experience

Xbox invited Insiders to preview the refreshed cloud gaming site earlier this year. It will now reach more players automatically over the next few weeks. If you’d rather not wait, you can head to play.xbox.com.

  • A new Library tab gathers the games you can play through cloud, whether you own them or get them through Xbox Game Pass. You can sort and filter by recently played, genre, input options and more.
  • Desktop mode uses the space on PCs and larger displays better, so you see more while browsing.
  • You can pick dark or light mode, plus five new high-contrast options.

TVs and VR headsets

Xbox is also starting to bring the refreshed look and navigation to its cloud gaming apps on supported TVs and VR headsets. The aim, it says, is for the basics to feel familiar on every screen: finding your games, knowing what you can play and getting into a game quickly.
