Mega Crit has put a date on the next big Slay the Spire 2 update. In its October Neowsletter, the studio says the next big beta patch is currently planned for November 12th.

The new beta content

The new content will be exclusive to the experimental beta branch at first, while the team works out the kinks. Mega Crit says these features were on the Early Access roadmap from launch, but have only had its full focus over the past couple of months. It describes them as big pieces of work that need lots of design, UX, art, animation and balancing, and can’t be done alongside regular balance updates and bug fixes.

The studio is keeping details under wraps, saying the new content will have more impact the less it says. One thing it did confirm in the Q&A: the new game modes will work for both singleplayer and multiplayer.

Main branch catch-up

The newsletter also says the default/main branch will be brought up to date with the content, balance changes and fixes on the current, relatively stable beta version, v0.111.0.

Co-op and Custom Runs

In the Q&A, Casey said the team has found the reception to co-op really positive, and wants to add more longevity to it. Additional Acts are “certainly in the pipes (within the Spire)”.

Casey also said Custom Runs will likely get a pass near the v1.0 launch. Controller support and minimum text size requirements make extra options tricky, so Casey expects desktop players and mods to get the most flexibility.

On gold trading in co-op, Casey said pooling resources into one player can make it too easy for someone to snowball.

WePlay 2026 in Shanghai

Some of the team is heading to WePlay 2026 in Shanghai. There’ll be a Slay the Spire 2 booth with demos, exclusive merch and interactive elements, made with CiGA, plus a Q&A and fan signing event with Casey. It runs November 21-22.

Merch and community

Makeship’s plush pre-order campaign for a Mini Regent and a Necrobinder with matching Osty has been extended to November 7th. There are also new Fangamer and The Yetee drops, and a first Slay the Spire x GoodSmile collab: a Nendoroid Light figure of The Defect.

The newsletter also reveals the mystery shadowed creature from Spire Spotting, an aquatic critter that Mega Crit suggests belongs back in the Underdocks. Next month’s fan art theme is Neow’s Bounty, with submissions due by Sunday, November 15th.
