R.E.P.O. has a big new update. Developer semiwork calls v0.5.0, The Sunstone Update, its fourth major one, and it brings a new level, a new enemy, gamepad support and a heap of fixes.

New content

  • A new level, Sunstone Valley Resort.
  • A new enemy, Pony.
  • Gamepad support.
  • Localisation in 21 languages.
  • 10 new cosmetics.
  • New rooms: five in Headman Manor, four in Swiftbroom Academy, four in the Museum of Human Art and five in McJannek Station.
  • Three new items: the Human Gun, Human Adventure Cable and Recharge Orb.
  • One new music track for the Museum.

Shop, menus and controls

  • The shop has a mirror next to the Cosmetic Machine.
  • You can hold items up to the shopkeeper for a chance at a discount, or the item being destroyed.
  • While in the shop, the map shows a shopping list of what’s currently at the extraction point.
  • There’s a new expression wheel with previews and mouse and gamepad support.
  • Adjustable grab lead for mouse and gamepad lets held objects and melee swings move ahead of your aim, with separate settings for grabbing and melee.
  • The main menu gets new buttons in the lower right for the latest news, Discord and YouTube.

Changes

  • Climbing and swinging have been reworked, with smoother camera follow.
  • Level loading should freeze less, and microphone input can now continue between levels.
  • You can now discover valuables while possessing your death head.
  • Melee weapons and guns have less rotation overshoot, and guns aim better close to objects.
  • Vehicle grab now uses toggle by default.
  • Staffs now need to be lowered between casts.
  • Held objects are more stable at high strength.
  • Ambient light and fog are a bit moodier once all extractions are done.
  • The Arena’s starting room has been improved.

Balancing

  • If too few valuables are left to complete extraction, smaller ones now spawn a short distance from players.
  • Elsa generates less overcharge in small form when not stunned.
  • An Arena Racing track piece that could become impossible to clear has been balanced.
  • Several valuables are now more valuable: the Manor Radio, Camera and Diamond Display, the Museum Baby Head and the Swiftbroom Master Potion.
  • The Manor Coffin, Manor Piano and McJannek Flamethrower are less heavy, and the Manor Dinosaur is less fragile.
  • The Museum Monkey Box now has a chance to trigger when taking damage.

Fixes

  • Save files could become corrupted if the game was opened multiple times at once. That’s fixed.
  • Healing no longer takes 10 HP when the target needs less.
  • Enemies that were impossible to pick up at certain strength values are sorted.
  • Fixes for Spewer, Headman, Elsa, Rugrat and Mentalist behaviour.
  • Defibro could rarely revive players stored in another player’s inventory. That’s fixed.
  • Duct Taped Grenades no longer get purchased by accident at the shop extraction point.
  • Battery charge transfer and saving have been fixed, and the truck charger now uses the right amount of energy.
  • Extraction point fixes cover the money bag not spawning and extracted valuables not always being destroyed.
  • Modded clients can no longer join a lobby without appearing on the player list.
  • Voice chat gets various playback and reconnect fixes.
  • Volume is no longer reduced after being revived in singleplayer.
