Patch NotesBrotatoBrotato: Primal Dread
Brotato update 1.2 adds Item Set menu, Nightmare nerfs and character buffs
Brotato update 1.2.0.0 adds a free Item Set menu, eases Nightmare difficulty and buffs eight characters alongside the Primal Dread DLC launch.

Brotato’s update 1.2.0.0 lands alongside the Brotato: Primal Dread DLC, and it brings a free Item Set menu, an easier Nightmare difficulty and buffs for a bunch of older characters. The developers say outdated mods can now cause conflicts, so deactivate all your mods before playing.
Item Set
The new Item Set menu lets you switch the content from extensions and free updates on or off. Want a vanilla feel? Turn everything off. Want to ditch the pets but keep the rest? Deactivate Paws&Claws and leave the others on.
You can do it straight from the Character Selection menu, so there’s no digging through other screens.
Nightmare difficulty
The developers say they didn’t get time to tune Nightmare before switching focus to Primal Dread, and these changes draw on community feedback.
- Difficulty spikes in the Crash Zone are smoothed out, especially waves where combined spawns could overwhelm you.
- Horned Fly, Bloated Pufferfish and Horned Spitter fire fewer projectiles.
- Scaled Stargazer moves more slowly.
- Brainy Squid, Cool Walrus and Horned Bruiser have less health, and Junkie and Dire Junkie are slower.
Character buffs
- Diver: enemy health modifier drops from 250% to 200%.
- Druid: fruit spawn chance goes from 3 to 4.
- Dwarf: gains Engineering every 5 kills instead of every 6.
- Hiker: gets 5 materials every 8 steps instead of every 10, and the movement speed penalty is gone.
- Farmer: starts with a Garden.
- Fisherman: gold drop penalty eases from -50% to -40%.
- Beastmaster: starts with an extra Rat pet.
- One Armed: your weapon counts as 3 extra weapons of its classes for set bonuses.
Shop
- The chance of being offered a weapon you own rises from 20% to 23%, with the early-wave bonus going from 5% to 7%. You also get 2% per different weapon you own, up to 6.
- The chance of a weapon from one of your classes rises by 1% per different weapon you own, up to 6.
Fixes
- Revolver, Combat Shotgun, Chain Gun, Chainsaw and Grenade Launcher: the long reload keeps shortening with Attack Speed once the normal cooldown hits its minimum.
- Weapons are now always drawn on top of other entities.
